Around the world, picture books are a popular format to tell stories about disasters. Among various media used to convey experiences and lessons about disasters, there is an established history of disaster picture books created after past disasters in Japan. After the March 11, 2011, Great East Japan Earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear disaster, a large number of various activities to share experiences and pass on lessons from this “3.11” have emerged.
With more picture books published compared to previous disasters, this website was created to provide a searchable database of disaster picture books related to the 3.11 disaster, including additional reference information. Information about each book has been gathered from the publishers and other public information sources, with efforts also made to connect readers with information about how to access/purchase books that are still in print.

絵本は、世界各地で災害を伝える手段として広く普及しています。災害の経験や教訓を伝える様々な媒体の中でも、日本では過去の災害を契機に災害絵本が制作されてきた歴史があります。2011年3月11日の東日本大震災、津波、そして原子力発電所の事故以降、この「3.11」の経験を共有し、教訓を継承するための様々な活動が数多く生まれました。
過去の災害に比べて絵本の出版数が増加していることを受け、このウェブサイトは、3.11に関連する災害絵本を検索可能なデータベースとして提供し、参考資料も提供しています。各絵本に関する情報は、出版社やその他の公開情報源から収集し、現在も出版されている絵本については、入手方法や購入方法に関する情報も提供しています。
