元気に牧場を走りまわる子牛のこっぴぃ。こっぴぃのお母さんには、角が１つしかありません。ある日こっぴぃはその理由を尋ねます。お母さんが語りはじめたのは、こっぴぃが生まれる前に起きた震災のこと、お母さんが体験した出来事でした。
この絵本は、福島県双葉郡大熊町にある「もーもーガーデン」という牧場に暮らす牛の親子の話を元に描かれた物語です。2011年に起きた震災と原発事故によって失われた多くの動物たちの命。「もーもーガーデン」にいる牛達は、被災をくぐり抜け奇跡的に生き残った牛たちです。今では故郷を管理するための草刈の役目を担い、現地の方々にとっての心の拠りどころとして育てられている牛の親子の姿を通じて、本当に大切なものを見つめます。

Koppy the calf runs happily around the pasture. His mother has only one horn. One day, Koppy asks her why. Her mother begins to tell her about the earthquake that occurred before Koppy was born, an experience she had.

This picture book is based on the story of a mother and her calf who live on a farm called “Momoo Garden” in Okuma Town, Futaba County, Fukushima Prefecture. The lives of many animals were lost in the earthquake and nuclear accident that occurred in 2011. The cows at “Momoo Garden” are the ones who miraculously survived the disaster. Through the story of the mother and her calf, who are now responsible for cutting grass to manage their homeland and are raised as a source of emotional support for the local people, we can look at what is truly important.
