震災復興絵はがきで話題になった神田瑞季さん(当時15歳)が手がけた絵本。東日本大震災の惨禍から復興へ…。あすへのきぼうを、内田麟太郎さんが一人の少女の心象風景として詩に託し、神田さんが絵に挑みました。4~5歳から。

著者の一人・神田瑞季さんは15歳の時に、故郷・宮城県女川町で東日本大震災に遭遇 しました。その後神田さんが描いた震災関連の絵が女川町の震災復興絵はがきとなり、話 題を呼びました。
本書は、内田麟太郎さんの優しい詩とその内容に寄り添った神田さん の絵から成る、宮城県女川町を舞台とした震災関連の絵本です。震災後、実際に目の前に 広がっていた風景と、震災後のショックで心を閉ざした少女の心象風景が描かれています。
この絵本は、震災を経験した人にも、そうでない人にも、誰にでも優しく語りかけてく れます。子どもはもとより、大人も読める内容です。
巻末には、著者二人の対談「あと がきに代えて」を掲載しています。そこでは、著者それぞれがどのような思いでこの絵本 に取り組んできたのか、この絵本を通して何を伝えたかったのか、などといった制作秘話 が語られています。
構想から4年を経て完成した一冊!

Mizuki Kanda, one of the authors, encountered the Great East Japan Earthquake in her hometown of Onagawa, Miyagi Prefecture, when she was 15 years old.The postcards she drew of Onagawa’s recovery from the disaster became the talk of the town.This book is a picture book about the earthquake disaster in Onagawa, Miyagi Prefecture, with poems by Rintaro Uchida and drawings by Ms. Kanda that accompany the poems.It depicts the scenery that actually unfolded in front of the reader after the disaster and the mental image of a young girl who closed her mind in shock after the disaster.This picture book speaks gently to everyone, whether they have experienced the disaster or not.It can be read by adults as well as children.　At the end of the book, a dialogue between the two authors, “In Lieu of an Afterword,” is included.　In the “Afterword” section, the two authors discuss their thoughts and feelings about this picture book, what they wanted to convey through this book, and other secret stories about the book’s creation.　This book was completed after 4 years from the conception!
