主人公のガラスである「僕」は、幼稚園に通う少女まこちゃんをはじめ、家族をあたたかく見守りながら毎日を過ごしていた。そんなある日、突然地面が揺れ、続けてゴーという音が迫り、バラバラに砕け散って濁流にのまれた――。まこちゃんの家の窓ガラスだった「僕」が見た地震や津波の恐ろしさ、その後に訪れた静寂、人々の動きを描き、静かに悲しみと絆を浮かび上がらせる絵本。 ※ 津波で砕けた窓ガラスを主人公にした作品。避難場所となっていた気仙沼市岩井埼杉之下地区の海抜11ｍの高台には高さ18ｍの津波が来て50～60名余が亡くなった。その場所に、2012年３月11日に慰霊碑が建立された。

The main character, “I”, a glass, spent every day warmly watching over his family, including Mako-chan, a girl who attends kindergarten. One day, the ground suddenly shook, followed by a rumbling sound, shattered into pieces and was engulfed in a turbid current. This picture book depicts the horror of the earthquake and tsunami that “I” saw in the window glass of Mako-chan’s house, the silence that came after that, and the movement of people, and quietly reveals sadness and bonds. * A work featuring window glass shattered by the tsunami as the main character. An 18-meter-high tsunami hit a hill 11 meters above sea level in the Iwai Saisuginoshita district of Kesennuma City, which had been an evacuation site, and more than 50~60 people died. A cenotaph was erected in its place on March 11, 2012.
