宮城県石巻漁港の、木の屋石巻水産の実話にもとづいた絵本です。大津波で傷つき泥だらけになりながらも流されずに残った缶詰は、被災者やボランティアの大勢の人の手により復活し、貴重な食料となりました。 悲しみも喜びもともにわかち合った被災地の人たちの物語です。著者は本の中にも登場する東京・経堂の飲食店「さばのゆ」で、震災以前から木の屋石巻水産を応援していました。震災後は缶詰を洗って販売するボランティアの中心的存在だったそうです。ボランティアと被災地の皆さんとの信頼しあう関係は、当時も多かったと思いますが、これからも続いてほしいと思いました。

This picture book is based on the true story of Kiya Ishinomaki Fisheries in Ishinomaki Fishing Port, Miyagi Prefecture. The canned food that was damaged and muddy by the tsunami but was not washed away was revived by many disaster victims and volunteers, and became a valuable food. It tells the story of the people of the disaster area who shared both sorrow and joy. The author has been supporting Kiya Ishinomaki Fisheries since before the earthquake at the restaurant “Mackerel no Yu” in Kyodo, Tokyo, which also appears in the book. After the earthquake, he was the center of volunteers washing and selling canned goods. I think there were many relationships of mutual trust between volunteers and people in the disaster-stricken areas at that time, and I hope that they will continue in the future.
